Time to “Folk Around and Find Out.”
After class and hours of shooting in a remote location, I extended my time at the Folk School. I captured this moment after waiting several hours and hoping for clouds to clear. By 4am the night transformed into a canvas lit by the Milky Way with a faint glow. This image rewarded my patience, crafted in the delicate balance of time and light.
Balancing Time and Place
Beauty can be found all around the John C. Campbell Folk School, and especially in the gardens that vibrantly come to life. During my visit, I encountered a variety of flowers blooming in splendid colors with butterflies, moths, and bees diligently pollinating throughout the gardens. This inspired me to shoot macro shots for the first time.

While walking around the Folk School Campus, I felt inspired by the beautiful crafts made by skilled students and dedicated teachers along the trails. Each piece reflected a unique mix of creativity and passion, enhancing my appreciation for the art and history of this inspirational environment.
